Project Information
Management Systems (PIMS)
PIMS is an Intranet based information service designed to keep
customers, their Project Teams and, where 3rd parties are
involved, the end client informed of daily progress on projects
being carried out by Elan Networks.

What does PIMS offer?
• 24/7 Access to the project progress via the web.
• Automated email alerts when tasks have been updated and/or
completed.
• Ability to download and/or view project letters, quotes,
drawings and photos.
• Ability to leave text messages for your Project Manager and
clients.
• Access to project information for an unlimited number of
client personnel.
• Ability to access and update PIMS whilst on site using a
handheld PDA.
• Cost and time savings through the efficient dissemination of
information.
How does PIMS work?
Customers are given a user name and password to enter PIMS from
the Elan Networks website. They are then able to view the
different tasks to be undertaken along with the progress of each
task to date, any notes attached and any documents. Bulletin
Board is available on the project in order to pass notes to and
from our Project Manager. Depending on access rights, customers
can also view Microsoft Office files that have been uploaded to
the project. These could be project letters, original
quotations, etc., along with photographs, where necessary.
A time saving feature is that customers can ‘tick’ a box to
enable e-mail alerts for project changes. Once this is selected,
the customer will automatically get an e-mail every night where
a task on the project has changed status, (e.g. cabling 1st
floor has increased from 10% to 20% complete).
A 3rd Party can (if requested) also have limited access so that
they can view the progress of all the tasks, without access to
‘sensitive or commercial’ information.
Why do I need PIMS?
By using the e-mail alert facility the user/client is
continually kept informed of project progress, without any
manual intervention, and is never faced with having to say “I
don’t know” when asked about the current status of a project. As
a result, a client’s Project Team is able to manage projects in
a more prompt, effective and time saving manner. Furthermore,
decision makers and salespersons (for example) who would not
necessarily want to monitor the project all the way through can,
at any time, see how a particular project is progressing.
How much does PIMS cost?
For projects with a value in excess of £10,000 PIMS is used by
our Project Team and offered to our customers FREE OF CHARGE.
