As one of Edinburgh's most respected law firms, Gillespie MacAndrew are only too aware of the benefits of sound information and communication technology. As part of their continued investment in ICT they had a need to connect the Local Area Networks in their two Edinburgh City Centre offices with a high speed link.

We have worked successfully with the ICT management team at Gillespie Macandrew for a number of years, and have an in depth understanding of their network infrastructure. It was for this reason, that when they needed to link these two offices they approached Elan for a solution.

As part of this project they had spoken to their current Telecommunications supplier and had a number of proposals to consider. These proposals were based around a Monthly Leased Line contract. Our proposal was to install a Gigabit laser link between the two buildings, with a fibre optic link into each of the local area networks.

The advantages of the LASER solution are fast deployment, no site licences required, no trenches to be dug and above all dramatic cost savings. The annual cost of the Leased Line Contract from their Telecommunications Company was £9,000. Élans one off cost for the Gigabit LASER link was £4,800 This meant a substantial saving in the first year of £4,200 and a second and third year saving of £9,000 respectively.

Since the installation, Gillespie MacAndrew have a single seamless, high speed network, and of course should Gillespie MacAndrew decide to move and they have a need for this type of network again they can take the Laser system with them.
